TeamMizell riding the Youth Nationals in Tennessee!!! Zeke, Jacob, and David; being the only Mizells able to compete in this event due to age. started off a little sketchy the first day, with David placing 4th and Zeke placing 2nd, but Jacob placed a very well 1st. but they were able to stick to it. David had fierce competition riding in the '0' line against Karl Davis jr, Eric Storz, Ian Delaney, and a bunch of others. His three day placing was 4th, 2nd, and 1st, giving him 2nd in the Open Championship Class!!! This being his last year to compete also due to age, he was disappointed, but was happy to know the event was won by his good friend Karl Davis Jr! Zeke, placing through the three day event, 2nd, 1st, 1st, became the 'C' Class Champion of the 2008 AMA Youth National Championship!!! Jacob finished 2nd overall in the 'E' Class, but wasn't disappointed because he can still ride next year!!!
Josiah enters World round event in Tennessee and places 12th in the hotly contested 125cc class!
Houston's got a new riding area!!! Much of the terrain is very similar to Rio Bravo, Katemcy Rocks, Sommerville, and Tishomingo. all in a small parcel of property that makes for terrific spectating and dynamite sections! Rio?
2-time national champ! Tennessee’s Sequatchie valley again played host to the 2007 AMA Youth National Series, during the first week of July. During the 3 days of competition in rugged rocky terrain, the weather gave days of dusty dry and then turned to rain! Observed Motorcycle Trials events do not “rain-out”. Local rider Josiah Mizell gave no chance to the competition as he held off the nations best rider to win all 3 days of the competition in the open Championship class! Riding his GasGas 280 to the best of his ability, he was able to make 2 perfect-score loops during the series, something that no other rider in his class was able to do. A total of 96 sections over the three days was exhausting and tested the endurance of the riders and bikes. Josiah is the first rider to EVER win this title twice, which makes the win even more exciting. The Mizell brother’s have been attending the Youth Nationals in Tennessee every year since they were 8 years old hoping to someday win the overall title. To accomplish it twice puts Josiah in the History books. Twin brother Caleb rode his GasGas125 in the same class and was able to take 4th place, while younger brother David rode his GasGas 280 in the Advance class as was able to take 1st place all three days. Both brothers will be honored on Las Vegas this year at the AMA Champions banquet where Josiah will have an opportunity to give a speech to the audience of several hundred riders, sponsors, and enthusiasts.
Josiah holds the Eagle-Trophy for winning the AMA Youth National Championship 2007. He makes history as the first rider to win the title twice!
7/18 Tennessee National Event A long drought ended during the week prior to rounds 3and 4 of the AMA Observed Trials National competition held near Chattanooga, Tennessee on June 9th and 10th. The mountains were wet and slick and the weather was very similar to Cleveland with high humidity and temperatures above 90 degrees, leaving the Mizell brothers feeling right at home. 16-year-old Caleb was once again able to place 4th on both days riding in the 125 expert class. Having ridden in Tennessee before, the terrain was a little more familiar to him as he was able to close the gap on the scores between him and his upper competitors. With the closer scores Caleb is excited about the possibility of getting on the podium before the end of the 2007 season. His twin brother Josiah made progress from his Cloroado finishes by jumping into 5th place on both days in the open Expert class. He was one point from 4th place on Saturday, and tied 4th on Sunday. Their younger brother, 14 year-old David, made progress in the High-School class by placing 2nd on both days, giving him good position against his older competitors. Little brother, Zeke, finished in 1st place in the youth competition on Saturday.

6/26/07 National Motorcycle Competitors Located in southern Colorado mountains near the small town of Cotopaxi, rounds 1 and 2 of the AMA Observed Trials Nationals was held on May 26th-27th with competitors from all across the nation, including local Cleveland area boys. The Mizell brothers had their first taste of serious competition for the season as they each moved into higher classes than they rode in 2006. 16yr old Caleb Mizell had his opportunity to ride his new 125 GasGas in the 125 Expert class and made an excellent showing, finishing both days in 4th position. His Twin brother Josiah rode his 280cc GasGas in the open expert class finishing near the middle of the pack in 10th and 8th place respectively. Josiah is currently challenging several former National Champ riders who have moved into the class, which makes for very tough competition. 14yr old brother David rode his GasGas 280 in the high-school class finishing in 3rd on Saturday and 4th place on Sunday. His fine riding style was impressive enough that he also received sponsorship from GasGas motorcycles. Youngest rider of the brothers, 10 year old Zeke, rode in the youth competition and placed 2nd on Saturday on his GasGas 70. The high altitude severely effected the power of the motorcycles as well as the stamina of the boys, and with each one of them moving into tougher classes this year we look forward to them progressing slowly up the finishing positions as the series continues.
After finishing the Texas state series in 1st 2nd and 3rd place, the Mizell brothers move on to National competition.
5/2/07 Texas State Motorcycle Trials
High in the Texas Panhandle on the upper end of Palo-Duro canyon on lake Mackenzie, rounds 7 and 8 of the Texas state series of Observed motorcycle trials were held on the weekend of April 28-29th. The morning classes were held throughout the property on a 2 miles loop through caprocks and beautiful rock bluffs. In the Novice class, Local rider Zeke Mizell from Tarkington, was riding great and made the event look easy until he missed a split in the creek section moving his finishing position to 3rd place. Day 2 was much better when he completed the event in first place. Preparing for the upcoming nation competition, Caleb Mizell moved from his 280cc GasGas to a 125cc GasGas in preparation for entering into the 125 Expert National class beginning next month. The soft-powered engine requires that the rider must use all of his body strength to negotiate the machine up the steep inclines and vertical steps. Saturday was Caleb’s first attempt on the bike and proved to be a real challenge for him as he finished the round in 6th position in the Master class. In the meantime, his brothers were busy battling it out for the top position, coming in tied with 10 points each. The rider having cleaned the most sections decided the tiebreaker and it was the 14 yr old younger brother, David Mizell who won first place leaving second place to his 16 yr old brother, Josiah. On day 2, Josiah was able to turn it around by winning the Master Class easily over his competitors. His Twin Caleb was getting adjusted to the 125, now, and proved that he could “do it” by finishing second place . 3rd place went to New Mexico rider, Robert Hirschshire and David claimed 4th position. One more Round of the Texas series remains, but it's certain that the Mizell brothers will finish in the top 3 positions. The only competition that remains is between the brothers!
Mizell brothers pull ahead of the competition in Texas!
Motorcycle Trials Texas series Rounds 3 and 4 of the Texas State Series were held on the weekend of Feb 24 –25th. In the Novice class, Zeke Mizell Placed 3rd on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday putting him in 2nd place for the series thus far. His brothers were busy battling the Masters in the top class position. Saturday was good for the 16 yr old Twins with Josiah in 1st and Caleb in 2nd and 14 yr old brother, David, in 4th place just behind 18 yr old Dallas rival, Glen Roblin. 50 MPH winds caused a huge dust storm to add difficulty to the event and danger to the riders, although everyone completed the event uninjured. The terrain was very aggressive on Sunday and the results were just as surprising. Caleb placed 4th, Glen Roblin was 3rd, with Josiah in 2nd and an unprecedented finish for the youngest rider, David, in 1st Place! These finishes leave the current positions of the State series with the 3 brothers in top three positions Josiah 1st, Caleb 2nd and David 3rd! 5 more rounds remain for the Texas State series.
David climbs his way to the top of the class!
Brothers Josiah, Caleb, and David Mizell took opportunity of the nice weather to do a demo at Martin Chevrolet on Saturday Feb. 3. Together they have built themselves a web site (www.teammizell.com) to promote their sponsorship and bring current events to their friends and followers.
The Mizell brother's have entered the Oklahoma state series and did quite well the weekend of march 18. Zeke moved to the Amateur class that weekend. and in the master class we had Josiah, Caleb and David taking the top three places:)
There was a TYTA event the day before the Oklahoma event. The Texas youth was able to create there own event to raise money for the Texas Youth Trials Association. The kids judged the sections while the riders rode.
